i think its down to the individual pups maturity, a lighter more whippetty type might be physically ready earlier than a larger heavier type but for me recall must be 100% before i'd think about it, i'd much rather spend an extra month training than risk spoiling a pup by trying too early

i like them to have a full season ferreting and bushing before i take mine lamping

but know lads that have dogs out young and be fine and others that just spoil there dogs

better to start them late than to early ATB with the pup dont rush things

I start them from 8 months on, light sessions for a while you don't want to spoil them and as said already work on recall first.

I dont run any lurcher till a year old at least big dogs usualy 16-18 month

the best at most things in life have usually all started young learning some part of what theyre good at even if not physically developed watching learning can only be good imo
