coursing-lad 71
Had my saluki collie greyhound out last night on the golf course and first slip hit a bunker. The dog lit out a huge yelp as I ran over to it it just walked towards me as nothing happened. After a closer look his bottom jaw won't sit normally its slightly sitting to one side. Thankfully it wasn't as bad as it could've been Quote Link to post

Thankfully it wasn't as bad as it could've been is its jaw broken? if the dogs jaw is broken then i would say its pretty bad. the dog will be out of action for a while as it will struggle to catch and hold its quarry. and also struggle to eat for a while. coursing-lad 71
I don't think it's broke because its eating yawning and play fighting with the other dogs. So am not sure about it tbh Quote Link to post
Saluki246 1,053
GO TO THE VET!!!!!!! Good greyhound vet!! That sounds bad to me, not a thing i would dismiss!! 2 Quote Link to post
skycat 6,173
If the jaw is not in line as it should be then it is not fine at all. Dogs can cope with a huge amount of discomfort without apparently being in pain: I've seen plenty of dogs carrying on seemingly as normal with cracked bones: thing is, if you just leave it, it won't heal properly, and could cause serious problems at a later date. 1 Quote Link to post
Country Joe 1,411
i have permission on a golf course, and the above post is the reason i have never lamped it. They do hold a lot of Rabbits, you need a dog with pace, but they are dangerous for a dog running flat out at night. 2 Quote Link to post
