JohnGalway 1,043
The bleeding heart hand wringers are bleating about how this will replace the morally bankrupt, cruel, wasteful practice of rearing grass fed meat animals. People who are so far removed from the actual hands on business of producing food they think injecting solutions into a slab of stem cells, then doctoring it up for colouring and God knows what else is better. I hope I live to a time when I can see them starve, as I'm eating a leg of Connemara lamb, with my own home grown veg, washed down by some home made cider

neil cooney 10,416
This project was funded anonymously by a wealthy well known public figure . It can be used now to argue against hunting and rearing animals for food and will give veggies an excuse to eat meat. I'm guessing a certain Mr McCartney is behind the funds. Frann 882
Yup, eating meat is evil and must be replaced with this soulless rubbish. We must find a way to eat without killing our fluffy Disney chums

unlacedgecko 1,467
My missus grew human muscle cells in the lab as part of her degree. I was speaking to her about this very subject yesterday. She was telling me that the cell she grew required feeding, in that case they used chicken embryos which had been put through a blender. The cells which had been used to creat this burger will still have required some kind of nutrient to make them reproduce and divide. As there is no digestive tract, they would have required basic proteins and carbohydrates, the cells on their own can't break down complex food stuffs. What the hell were they fed on? Born Hunter 17,831
Well, personally I think it's good................ "WHAT!" It's an advancement in technology, may seem pointless and a threat to all us carnivorous sorts but this same technology could be used to produce food for human settlements without the infrastructure to do it 'the old fashioned way'. The animal rights brigade can use it all they want, who the f**k would rather eat a lab grown burger than a genuine one? They've been banging on for years that we don't need to eat meat and we still do, now they will bang on for years that we don't have to eat animal derived meat because of this lab grown stuff........... but we still will.

Frann 882
I had a delicious homemade beefburger for lunch. It didn't cost quarter of a million but it tasted like it
