Crikey mate... some serious bits of kit there. I have heard that the zeiss is a good scope and was actually considering one for a rifle that i am getting built but this is a 6.5x55 and have since gone off the idea... Never looked through one as they wern't kept on the shelf... i'm not sure if you will see many advantages on having one on a rimmy :hmm: I can kind of see where you're coming from if you're talking .17 HMR but if you zero at 100 yrds you're not looking at negligible holdover/under from 50-150 mark anyway. I definatley think it would be overkill on a .22 but again if you're got the cash and want to splash out why not (you see people in airgun mags with 40x nightforce scopes on airguns for crying out loud) I actually found variable power scopes more of a hinderance on my rimmy and gone for a 7x50 but thats just me.

They lads at Decoy.co.uk have them on their site... give them a bell and i'm sure they'll give you an honest opinion.

good points youve made there, i was going to put it on my rimmy for starters and then when a slot comes available for a .243 id stick it on there. hey, were all big kids here and i love my gadgets ! ill give decoy.co.uk a bell and see what the score is.

Richie, i,ve seen the zeiss in the flesh, and tried it. Its a gurt great lump of a scope, and would feel the same as a night vision sight on top of a rimmy. As is usuall with zeiss, the optics are excellent, and the lcd readout for range is in the bottom quarter of the scope. However, i "pinged" several targets in the field at the shop, that i know the ranges of.....and it was miles out, i couldn,t believe it!

I would buy yourself a decent scope from any of the german manufacturers, or a leupold, and then get yourself a leica 900 or 1200 rangefinder, for around £300, then you will always have a rangefinder regardless of which gun you are using. The leica are very, very accurate, and simplicity to use.

Think the seperate range finder is the way to go. i use the lecia 1200 scanmaster excellent piece of kit and great battery life into the bargain,

also very accurate at ranging which i found some weren't, also easy to use, As a few friends have purchased one's with all sort's of little extra's

on them but they don't know how to use it. NO BRAINER.
