the_stig 6,614 Posted August 6, 2013 Report Share Posted August 6, 2013 Does anybody know of the artist vernon ward, the painting looks old , it depicts ducks flying over a river with marshy ground on the left hand side.. google him images click on the 3rd image and visit page auction results you might be surprised Stig how would i clean it, the painting has been in a very old house, uncles house, looks like soot stain, should i leave it well alone.. leave it mate --- I`ve done a few with white sprit and cotton wool and cotton buds its a balls ache takes hours ---try a small area -- could of been on a chimney breast over a coal fire --just try dusting it with a new paint brush --its not under glass ? Firstly it show that things are not as rare as previously thought, you can also find the provenance of an item PDQ, The upside is bigger audience for your sales.
