Laptop Help !

my laptop was working the other day, but it was really slow up-loading i bowworwed myfriends laptop, and it worked ok! then he needed it bk asap, but my lap top i knew when i bought it, i knew there was somthing wrong with the battery, it wouldnt hold a charge, but when i took the battery out just using the mains - connected to the laptop it worked fine!... but then blanked all of a suden ? i know i nead a new battery but why has it stopped working all of a sudden ? it worked without a battery in it ? if you need more info please ask me i dont mind paying for your time, ..........just need my laptop working again !

Mine is the same. The battery has been knackered for a couple of years now but I just have to keep it turned on at the mains and it's fine. The only thing I've noticed is that it can over heat so I have to make sure there's an air flow around the fan inlet. Yours may have had the same problem. If it's over heated and crashed then there may be damage to something on the motherboard. As for running slow...if you can get it booted up you should go into system tools and clean the hard drive...it may be loaded with old web pages and other crap. Could also defrag the hard drive...may make it run a bit smoother ;-)

if the fans still running and the lights still on its possibly a dry joint on the graphics card, if theres no fan or lights, its possibly a power problem anything from the fuse in the plug to the psu
