gosling1960 191
Having read some posts on here and many other forums, why do people not treat ferrets as they would any other pet and use the vets ??????????????????. Quote Link to post
Simoman 110
Too many people treat ferrets as easily replaceable, those who appreciate them know there not and deserve the best care available......... Quote Link to post
Millet 4,497
I do use the vet's for any animal if needed..but sometimes a vet is not needed .. Edited August 3, 2013 by Millet 1 Quote Link to post
smithie 2,443
maybe they are treating them like their pets and they dont use the vet for at all... it takes all sorts some will also of had ferrets for 50 years (maybe) and in that time your sure to learn something and if you know enough to know the ferret has no chance then the vet is aa very expensive option Quote Link to post

foxtails 272
it depend on whats wrong with the ferret/dog ect if the ferret is too far gone then some people would pay £50 for a vet to put it down and other people may humanly put it out of its missary , the same if a dog has a puncher wound or a rip/tare ect a professional dog stapler will do the same job as a vet would do, on the other hand theres some thing you cant do which a vet can and is trained for it just depends on the situation/injury ect Quote Link to post

Take it you don't visit the lurcher section, plenty of advice about injuries, health, etc being asked for in there so is your point flawed. Quote Link to post
Jarvis 277
One of my ferrets had her front foot caught in a fenn trap which had been left down a rabbit hole obviously by some unsavoury character who shouldn't have been on the land. In removing it from the trap I took it straight to the vets where they concluded that amputation was the only option to save the ferrets life. Obviously the bill wasn't cheap but these creatures are not a throw away commodity and without them I would not be able to carry out the pastime which I am so fond of. Since the operation and now back on her feet (3) she is doing very well and Is still just as good a worker as she was previously, if anything more steady and less digging is involved! If I had not opted for the costly vets and ended her life I would have always regretted it. As I see it you shouldn't keep any animal if you cannot provide for it lovingly and financially. 1 Quote Link to post
gosling1960 191
Each to there own i guess, but I think if you take ownership of animal of any kind then you should take it to the vets when ill. Quote Link to post
