ashley1987 6
Hi lads am just wondering what age to start getting my whippet into shape I no she is still young at 6months but an not sure what age to start bikeing or running with her?any advise would be welcome Edited August 3, 2013 by ashley1987 Quote Link to post
AirgunGuy 362
Still too young for that kind of stuff I would say. Her bones are still growing and developing and more harm than good could be done. An hr or 2 free running and throwing a dummy/retrieving etc should be enough for the next few months imho ;-) Quote Link to post
birddog 1,354
don't see any need at all bud, another couple of months training it'll be the start of it, your pup could be ready for a wee shine by october / november, all going well the fitness will come naturally as its confidence and work rate grow, stick to playing and retrieving just now and this time next year get yir walking boots on Quote Link to post

Country Joe 1,411
Come september october get him out with the ferrets, gets them used to working with them, marking, watching the rabbits hit the nets, and the noise of the ferrets working rabbits below ground. when old enough to working regular, Ferreting Lamping and mooching, Should be no need to run behind a bike, bit of road work and free running. Gaz_1989 9,539
I bumped into a lad this morning that's been lamping his 6 month old whippet since it was 4 months. It's nearly got its adult teeth so what's the problem. Lol. Quote Link to post
Country Joe 1,411
I think taking out ferreting, is a whole lot different to lamping a young dog, I wouldn't do it, but each to their own. Quote Link to post
