Would love to own one like I'm reading maybe one of you could help got my first terrier last week good little bitch she is very keen and loves to work only problem I've found is that [BANNED TEXT] I'm at home in back yard she will recall straight to whistle every time 100 % but soon as we get out n she in field or wood which ever I recall her n it's like she is deaf!!! Now she works along side older dogs n they turn straight n back to me but still she wint listen???? Any advice lads??

An e-collar works best but you can accomplish the same thing with a check cord. If using an e-collar you don't want to over do it. It's easy to ruin one in a hurry if your not careful.

 

The idea is to communicate to the dog that it had better come when it hears the whistle or else. Terriers CAN be stupid.... but they can just as easily play stupid. They want what they want, when they want it... and will blow you off if you let them.

 

The funny thing is most will come around acting like they've done nothing wrong... when they know better. I used to think that the sharper ones were usually a little slower then their not so driven littermates... but that hasn't proven to be true.

 

Drive and intelligence are not mutually exclusive. DO not believe the little b*****ds.lol

 

Let them tell it.... they simply couldn't help but ignore your commands. Watch as see how clever they become when they WANT TO do something.
