sandymere 8,263
Good food, if they're not getting good enough food no supplement is gonna help and if they are getting good food then they don't need any unless there is a problem with them many so called supplements may slow healing and recovery or at best have no effect. having said that you could try http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/276504-sandymeres-wonder-supplement/ Some interesting info here http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/?s=supplements 4 Quote Link to post

Mixed Bag 603
couple of tins of sardines a week either in oil or tomato sauce. brine ones are sometimes cheaper but need draining to take the salt away 1 Quote Link to post
birddog 1,354
when we raced we used to use supplements but with a good varied diet i dont think lurchers need them, get out fishing at this time of year and stock the freezer with mackeral, all the fish oil and good protein there failing that tinned pilchards or sardines once a week are good with the bonus the tomato sauce helps with any cramping problems, red meat (liver, hare, venison etc) good source of iron, theres lots of books and web info out there and the mutts don't get bored with the same old Quote Link to post

I agree good quality grub is more important....most folk who feed supplements do so because..."Jimmy down the road says it's good for them...."or "My grandfather always fed it...." Well, my grandfather fed bread and milk sops to his ferrets....don't mean we should do the same..... I once went down the supp route with seaweed....for no other reason than "Jimmy fed it...." I've often asked folk why they feed this supp or the other and very few can offer anything other than weak anecdotal evidence of the perceived good it does.... Good clean/quality food.... 2 Quote Link to post

So, what does it do for them - apart from a shiny coat....???? How do you know they perform better on this supplement...my betting is that it is making no difference.... Couple of tins of oily fish per week would do the shiny coat..... 1 Quote Link to post
