foxtails 272
iv been looking out for a new spade for this coming season, i had a small folding one last season, which when i got down to some hard digging it bent then snapped .. it had a pick tpye thing on the one end and a spade on the other, after that i had to carry a big heavy thing, so this season as im always alone while rabbiting aswel as carrying all my other gear im looking for a small shovel/spade that wont be much to carry size/wieght ect so iv saw these on the e bay what do you think ? borntohunt 19
out of those 2 id go for the first one, or if you know anyone who works for the council doing road repairs they might beable to sort you out with a good spade for a few beers. Quote Link to post
DanAdams 10
Both of them look okay strength wise, I'd personally go for the one on the right, looks like the favored bulldog rabbiting spade, if they are not to much it would be worth it if there getting on into the bulldog price range I would go for the bulldog range but that's just my personal preference, ATB Dan Quote Link to post
Guest vin
Bulldog. all the rest are just waste of money along the way to end up buying a decent bulldog. Quote Link to post

foxtails 272
It's your choice how well do you know your ground I can ferret most of mine with a ladies garden spade , but on other bits I take a round mouth bulldog exactly spot on ! yes some are very very deep, obviously i would not ferret those just before dark ect, im on about a mornings/afternoons ferreting,, the left one is small, the right one a normal size spade im dont think its a bull dog but its the one iv chosen. The one 8,479
Ive three ,four spades mostly get by with the ladies garden spade dug down to seven foot with it no problem , Then a ditching spade , a round mouth bull dog and a huge round mouth spade for ferreting in sand . Its easy enough to fire a extra spade in the car in case you need it Quote Link to post
Country Joe 1,411
Ive used a Bulldog for years, also have a small spade, and recently bought a nice stainless steel one from Homebase, it had quite a bit of it, a good buy, it was Lawrence from here that put me on to it. Quote Link to post
r judd 13
got to agree with the one diffrent spades for diffrent ground got four myself always in motor why not buy proper bulldog rabbitting spade with a y handle to take shock away when you hit rock or the best small one from bnq fiberglass shaft y handle light small but very stro g roughneck brand Quote Link to post
Ripstop 89
Why do you ned a smaller spade for ferreting than digging? Its all underground, so practically you should have the one that will do the job, wont break and make digging that bit easier. Bulldog, spear and jackson or draper round mouths, or a good newcastle draing spade/spit. Quote Link to post
