The Gang.

Recommended Posts

Thought i'd take a couple of photos of the gang, while the sun was out and we were chilling in the garden. The photos of Finn are pretty crap, as he had a wee mishap last night and is a bit three legged today, so wasn't happy being the centre of attention haha.

Close . . . . .

She is a mongrel hound. Having found out the breeding back as far as her great grand sire / dam on both sides. . . . she is mainly Beagle and Teckle, with a very small splash of cocker and terrier, way back.

Darbo - When I got her I was really worried that she would be a nightmare to train etc. But to be honest she has been a dream, a lot easier than the whippet being fair. Her recall is good, she retrieves a bit, sits, stays etc. Rides on the back of the quad. I can shoot over her, and she will hunt off like a hound if out without the gun. Flushes well for the other dogs, marks true etc. I can't complain at all, and I think in time, I will get another 1. . . 2. . . . or 3 . . . . and have myself a little pack

NL - Thanks mate, he's sore today! But yer, he makes me happy, he can turn his hand to most stuff.

P.S - The old terrier is 14 :toast:

Thanks Andy

Yes mate, he is a pure, K.C reg. And you are right, for a whippet, he certainly is a strong wee dog. In fact, he isnt very whippet like at all, in his running or hunting style. J.B was only saying it last night, that he runs a lot more like a lurcher, than a whippet. He certainly has a lot more stamina, durability etc, than just speed. I'm starting to think, he might be a handy animal to throw over a good lurcher bitch, to produce some little rabbiting dogs.

She has seen a bit already, pushed a few bits and bobs from cover from rabbits, through fox to fallow. And done a bit of ratting. This coming season, she will get plenty of chance to show me what shes got - shes out with me every day on the shoot, and i'm planning on using her more to shoot over, as welll as taking her ferreting over winter, and also plan to run her with a small pack, which will contain her sire, dam, and at least 3/4 of her litter mates  Fingers crossed
