jandcguns 65
Haha, and no I don't smoke I was wondering if it was the wire. I seen a vid saying parsley oil is goot to use ? Quote Link to post
stealthy1 3,964
Set wrongly if they have time to smell them, imagine a scent that invites animals to hang them selves Quote Link to post

The one 8,496
Seem that as well on a warrener dvd but why bother i set my snares in the morning there out all day hopefully catch a few rabbits at night anything extra is a pain . Are they shop bought snares or home made jobby's ? you know no to touch and after shave ,petrol fags etc before setting the wires , Its all really common sense Quote Link to post
3175darren 1,101
You say the rabbit was smelling the wire,it could have just seen the snare, and was smelling it as confirmation,I think you will find, if you weather them a couple of day,s and don't do anything stupid as in handle anything strong smelling,or wear a thin pair of clean gloves you will be fine, 1 Quote Link to post
MR TEA POT 1,287
Load of crap weathering and all this shite about smoking etc......if the snares are set on runs in the field the rabbit is traveling at speed so does not have time to sniff the wire.I smoke while setting snares and I've caught a fair few it makes no differance set right a rabbit or hare will hit a wire bang on.Even fence snares where a rabbit slows down before going through the fence I've smoked had ferret smell on my hands made no differance as been said set early morning and most of human scent gone by time rabbits come out to feed. 4 Quote Link to post

So you don't have to put lettuce juice on your snares then 1 Quote Link to post
