RossM 8,119
Got these of a lad at work the ring is 4 inch and the spike is 10. Any good for end pins? My initial thoughts are they're too thick? Quote Link to post

smithie 2,443
you always get people saying i use a 9 inch 6mm spike and i use an 8 inch, i got a 3 inch ring or 5. the thing i find is for somebody new to longnetting is better with a larger ring on the end pin but the spike thickness and length depends on the soil were you work your nets. i have some very stoney land where i can not get my endpins all the way in to the ground and as there only 5mm im sure they must feel more stress on the spike as its maybe 2/3 inch not in the ground so i could have a shorter spike on the nets i use there if i was working loose or sandy soil maybe a thicker/longer spike would be more appropriate just use what you have until more come along as long as you can work your net its not a problem, you can fine tune it all later. Country Joe 1,411
As long as your pin holds the net, thats all that matters, its not rocket science. Quote Link to post
saharashadow 26
For me the dimensions aren't excessive. In fact most of my end pins are around 9" long and a 1/4" diameter. I suppose for some, the weight factor I would be a concern, but they look fine to me. Just give them a try and see how you get on. Quote Link to post
