Astral 253
I use a gamekeeper side shooter, if you naturally want to angle your hand I would suggest you try out out a side shooter. As I thought exactly the same thing as you and bought myself a normal one and then immediately bought a side shooter that I am now glued too. I use flatbands as I personally prefer them, (Gold Therabands are the ones I use) however some get on better with the tube bands so it can vary.

I am in the process of making whittling one too, have you thought about making your own? Very cheap and a lot more satisfaction.

Sheffield Catapults 71
Catapults are very much a personal thing, what some people find suits them may not suit others. It's just a case of finding the right one for you, a bit like guns The type of bands/tubes and taper to use are dependent on what you are going to be shooting, for hunting with 12mm lead I'd recommend Theraband Gold tapered at 20-15mm. Hope this helps a bit.

Blackbriar 8,569
Tapering is claimed to increase band speed which, obviously, means the ammo fires at a greater speed. I don't really know much more, but I imagine tapering reduces the life of the bands. If I'm wrong, I'm sure I'll be corrected.............. You could take a look at this....http://slingshotforum.com/
Sheffield Catapults 71
Tapering increases speed, the more extreme the taper the faster the projectile speed but the shorter the lifespan of the bands will be. A 5mm taper will only make a small amount of difference to band longevity but it will increase the speed of the projectile quite a fair amount.

Thanks for that - I'll bear it in mind for the future.
