Brackenharley 16
I am after purchasing a light weight scope for my Huntsman. I have looked through the MTC and liked the reticle and optics but have been unable to look through the Nikon. So was after some advice on the quality of the Prostaff over the Mamba lite? Also if I where to get the Nikon what would be the recommended distance to reset the parrallax at? Thanks for any input, Dave. Quote Link to post

Brackenharley 16
Thanks, have gone with the Mamba Lite 4-12x44 as I know I like the reticle and the glass seems pretty good so far. 1 Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
crap rather??? the mamba or nikon ?? I should probably wait for the reply but I'll be very suprised if it's the Nikon. They're built to last. That said, my shooting pal Paul has been more than very happy with his MTC 10x44 on his HW90 and I'm impressed by it's quality for the price. Very clear optics and easy to use. I don't like the fussy ret though and it's not a scope that I'd choose for myself but it's a personal thing. I prefer a good old 30-30 or a generic mil-dot but that's just me. RiverRomper 15
The Nikon Prostaff Target EFR 3x9x40AO is a nice scope with a lifetime warranty for about $150USD,during a sale, on Optics Planet. It is air gun-rated and has a 30-30 reticule. Glass is Jap, and nice, the scope austere, well-made, and seems to be preferred to be used at the lower end of its range.(3.5-4.5) The Nikon Prostaff EFR is made in the Phillipines in the same factory that makes Vortex. Has semi target turrets. The Mamba, never seen one here in Missouri. It's probably engineered to be UK-specific. Probably the better choice. Peace, hope this helps, RiverRomper Quote Link to post

Nikon everytime mate, they are light years away from the MTC trust me it will be the best decision you will make this year. Quote Link to post
Acuspell 329
As above. The Prostaff seems simple, but it belies the simply superb lenses that are crisp, high contrast and handle flare brilliantly - they also have the best light transmission of any sub £300 scope BAR NONE. I have tested many scopes for shooting magazines, here and in Europe and the Nikon are as good as scopes 5x the price, but without fancy gadgets or fancy badges! The 3-9x40 gives a good 40 minutes extra shooting time over the MTC Viper (which is their higher end). 1 Quote Link to post
emilianoksa 11
The Prostaff series are very well regarded on both sides of the Atlantic. Some say their glass is better than scopes costing far more. The EFR 3-9x40 AO is beautifully made (understated elegance) and competitively priced. The only downside for airgunners is its lack of aiming points - just has the regular cross hairs. Quote Link to post
