walshie 2,804
Avoid Chinese ones at all costs. They break and it's hard to get parts for them.
BIGLURKS 874
Don't waist ur money they last about a month they will teach your kid how too fix a bike though my little brother has one they can nip on though even with my fat ass on them they can still shift but my brother has probably spent the same amount repairing he's then it cost him in the first six months better buying a Honda or Yamaha 50 cc will last twice as long and have better resale when you get rid

B.P.R 2,798
I bought my lad a petrol mini quad.... upgraded the carb...filters etc and the thing was a wee flying machine.... But the noise was LOUD..... He didnt like the noise....so i sold it... with the aim of getting an lt50...... The problem with these petrol bikes and quads.... theyre an easy target for the police.... you cant ride them anywhere in public or on public land.... So end up using them in the street and annoying the neighbours....gets a bit boring for the kids is suppose.... I dont know how old your lad is..... But mines going on 4 at christmas.... and theres some pretty quick electric quads out now.... they look the dogs too..... Bonus of them is...that you can use them anywhere...legally.... the beach....streets....etc..wherever you want...... I dont really fancy forking out that much money for some police officer to crush it.... Heres the link to the electric ones.... Ill be getting my lad one for chistmas http://www.funbikes.co.uk/Black_Electric_Mini_Quad_Fun_Bike_Ride_On_Toy(3627).aspx Edited July 28, 2013 by Blue Pocket Rocket

Its_grim_up_norf 577
ive got a stomp klx with a yx140 engine, upgraded carb, race cammed...like shit off a stick, and a whole lot of fun. real reliable too. plus when things do go wrong pit bikes are cheap to fix. not being too sure how old the bairn is, id say, get him either a semi auto, or a rev and go to start. then once hes got to grips, buy a decent bike. a geared bike. if hes around the 12 mark, then you can probably get away with getting a gears one straight away. stomp are good, demon, an thumpstar if you can find them but they're becoming increasingly rare. Just be careful putting him in at the deep end. i know mines 140 but it doesnt stall, it flips, or takes off. either way whoevers riding it ends up on their arse.
