No ferreting in Scotland is Not ilegal BUT we have got to find out the EXACT details of this case it may be wrongly reported they may have been wrongly advised. We need the EXACT details and we need to speak to the person involved to see if something needs to be done. I am going to put the guys name on here as it's already been in the paper so I need to get contact details(by PM) of Gavin Stevenson from Drumchapel this is urgent some of the guys from Faifley or Hairymill must know him.

Right everybody calm down my old man spoke to the guy involved it was badly reported He DID NOT Have permission and that coupled with a legal aid lawyer who new it all and persuaded him to plead guilty sealed his fate. Thanks Wilbur for bringing this up had the guy got to us we could have sorted most of it and gave him a legal aid lawyer up to speed on fieldsports. I think the guy is joining SACS tomorrow. When you hear of anything like this contact me sooner the better. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PERMISSION ROUNDABOUT STIRLING COS THESE COPS NOW THINK IT IS ILEGAL. SACS members refer them to us if in doubt.

Out of interest just what could you have done when the guy was poaching?? If your going to poach then fair enough but if you get caught then tough shit really. Take what's dealt to you and move on.... Surely! Or would you try and defend someone that's poaching, loosing battle.. No???

Everybody needs advice at some point the guy had permission off one of the horsey people if she was a tennant then he was legit if she was just stabling her horse then he was'nt. However the quality of the lawyer has a lot to do with it apparently his lawyer did what a lot of legal aid lawyers do listened to the police "experts" and told him to plead guilty. Remember you have to be charged under the relevant act for what you are doing, the sherrif was under the mistaken belief that it was ilegal to ferret rabbits and kill them so what else did he/they get wrong. The point to this is now the cops have been told ferreting is ilegal they will be targeting it. Make sure you can afford a decent lawyer but even if you have legal aid lawyer he is working for you TELL him to contact us we will keep him up to speed on the law as passed not as the cops and the sspca want it to be. We cannot win them all but we make sure our members have the best legal advice available.
