Firstly I was not aware that anyone had said that training a dog was wrong nor are the feats you boast of really that difficult to achieve IF a man thought them necessary skills that they wanted in TH

But it wouldn't understand...you break a dog as a pup NOT to chase/kill/look at stock, game birds ..even rabbits but then 12 mth later try and enter it to the same prohibited stock.

Use a rabbit pen for gun dogs but then you dont go out and let the lab or Springer chase or peg stuff...

Of course they understand they are intelligent animals.

I've got a pp trained Malinois here that doesn't walk past every human thinking "I wonder what he tastes like" yet a simple command and I can send him in to pull anybody down and hold them in his jaws until another command is given or I can sit him in front of you and hold you at bay without biting. The same with sheep/cattle dogs they will run around herding at a distance but can also apply pressure when it's asked of them to single out a particular beast then they can happily sit down by a gate in the same field full of stock because they've been given a "stay" command. Surely being in control of your dog should be paramount in the very basic stages of training?

Still cant see how training a dog could be wrong, first Lurcher i had took him out as a pup to learn the robes with older men and older dogs i was 15 at the time and the dog turned out to be a non retreiving hard mouthed lazy hunting also ran hound, had him for 14 years tho, second dog took to the books NEVER worked him with other dogs and never looked back

Really thought the way i do things was a lot more common how wrong i was, not one replie about Base line blood the whole point in this thread, just shocked abuse at the thought of exspecting more from a canine than reacting to a moving target, oh well time to jog on i think i know when im beat HAPPY HUNTING all!!!!!!

Base blood would be the working part in a Lurchers make up ie Collie terrier gundog ect as a cross such as a Whippet Greyhound is not a Lurcher but a long dog concentrate stay with me, as to blowing smoke up my own arse about being a better Trainer than you, i didnt no i was, thought what i do is common place with DOG men well untill now lol

thought how i got into working dogs may of been of intrest to some, as i grew up on a council estate in east London with no dog men around me and it was actually a dog Alsation Lab that introduced me to the love of watching dogs work!

Now this is reallymy last post because as the old man once told me, you cant argue with an idiot
