GSkye 94
are pups easy to raise for hunting? pretty much as most of it comes natural to them....as long as they're comfortable being handled it's fairly plain sailing I prefer bolting them for the dog for the first session or two to get them used to passing through warrens, getting picked up as they exit etc.....and then have a session with the nets to get them used to them, rather than trying to get them used to everything at the same time. aye, step by step. i think i may start with one and once i get the hang of it then i can get more. otherwise its just another pet Quote Link to post

GreyRake 108
If you want to get one, go for it, but they are happier with a pal. They don't cost that much to feed really, im about to throw out a huge bag of cheap kibble i thought they would have eaten by now! Technically you should give a solo ferret more attention and space. I had a solo hob when i was a child who would pace back and forward in his cage, seemingly going crazy now im looking back... Sorry if im getting all animal rights on you hahaha recently had a trip to the zoo Edited July 27, 2013 by GreyRake Quote Link to post

johnny boy68 11,726
Been 15 years since I last owned one but with a 4 year old Daughter and a new pup coming... This is Pinky, our new addition. Bout 8 weeks and, if I'm honest, a little 'sharp', I do hope, for both my daughters and more so my Mrs (who's new to 'em), sake, we learn to get along.... 2013-07-26 21.39.05 (640x480).jpg 2013-07-26 21.38.10 (640x480).jpg Great stuff, plenty of handling they soon stop nipping but I'd get a break stick just in case. 1 Quote Link to post

Did you actually got ferreting with yours then? Quote Link to post
GreyRake 108
Yeah, had a great season with my jill, her first and my first for eight years or so. As a child id take my hob and border terrier out behind my mums back. We caught all sorts - voles, rats, rabbits... the ferret even caught a one eyed phesent from under some stacked corrugated iron haha, the good old days.Great to get out again, especially finally doing it properly hehe. 2 Quote Link to post
