bolohan 0
found a fox out on the side of the highway fresh killed. planted it out in the back field behind the house and let the patterdale pup "discover" it. he's 10 wks now and full of s**t. he started barking and growling and grabbing on the fox ears. I was really encouraging him too, want him to get at some live ones in a year or so. we know where there are some nice fox holes and groundhog holes near us. within 1-2 kms. so I'm on the lookout for a groundhog or other little mammals to get him into. how soon do you boys get your pups onto prey? even dead prey? cool, can't wait to see hastings jrt pup, supposed to get him in another day or so. later eh Quote Link to post

edzy 3
WOW there fellow hunter let the dog see lots of dead things first and get him ragging making sure you dont give him an easy ride when playing with him because when hes under ground fighting for his life it certainly wont easy on him. im sure you as his owner and can tell when hes ready my patterdale DUKE has just turned 3 and he will be used for this season i think hes ready he has seen action and been to ground a few times over the last 24 months just learning the trade from his fellow workers and he loves it and i know that he will be fine no terrier man likes stitching up his dogs. so take care with him and happy digging Quote Link to post
