walshie 2,804
I just can't throw empty boxes way, "in case" I need to send something to someone. I carefully store them in the shed, the garage or the cupboard, but when I look for them, they're gone.
Malt 379
The "it might come in useful one day" syndrome is the worse one, i have suffered for years, symptoms include, large sheds that you are unable to enter due to them being jammed to the gunnels with useful stuff , The inability to pass a skip without the overwhelming urge to jump in and have a root about, coming back from the local refuse tip with more in the car than you went with. been there a few times......................Me too, had a dyson hoover before now that just needed a new switch and a load of toy cars for my boys when I was dropping off old toys that were broken or no longer used! i hate the draw in the kitchen its full of everything from girls head bands, old phones and chargers menus for takeaways you name it its in their I started with 1 miscellaneous draw now I've got about 6..... Same here! Started off with one draw in the kitchen, I now have 2 in the kitchen, 2 in the sideboard in the hallway, 1 in the bed room and I've now commandeered the one in the front room coffee table for assorted leads and stuff! Malt 379
not a hoarder, bin all the shite. Sometimes I see something that I think will be usefull but as a rule if it's not got a job it goes. I hate the attitude "we'll keep it because it might come in use, just put it over there". "CRAP, CRAP AND MORE FECKING CRAP! BIN IT, BURN IT OR FECKING USE IT!" Do either of you guys own a hammer, handsaw, tape measure, set of spanners, etc? .

Frann 882
Best for sheds is rats lol. A mate of mine up London way had this plan of turning his log cabin type shed into a mini arcade with old arcade cabinets in. His missus started storing any old krap in it until the rats moved in LOL He got rid of the rats but now has the shed to himself as his missus won't go near it

Aye and I bet they're all still shiny new, unused and hung on the right peg in an immaculately clean shed? Nah, they're in an old game bag covered in mud along with odd bags of nails and screws, drill/driver bits, tape, etc etc. Other tools scattered about the house and car. I don't mind mess, just can't stand crap being kept for the job that doesn't and never will exist. People will keep a huge pot of shite odds and ends, then in 5 years they might finally find a use for one of the quantrillion odds and ends and that's they're justification for it when they probably could have just gone to B&Q and bought a nice new shiny one for £2.99. The bloody pot to keep the lifetime collection of crap probably cost more than it ends up saving them! I just can't be doing with it.

Have you got one of those boards on the wall of the shed with silhouettes of the relevant tools on so you know which one hangs where?

NEWKID 27,601
Hoarding is a family tradition which is taken very seriously by my dad, brother and me... Much to the displeasure of my mum, sister in law and my wife ( Gem apart, woman don't seem to get it).... My dad without doubt is the champion, and has shit at his house which a best is antique but more than likely rotten old shite lol... He will not pass a piece of wood ( or any building material for that matter) without chucking it in the van, that'll come in useful one day mentality at its best lol... My brother is the family tinkerer and has at least 4 unfinished projects ( junk) on the go, a beach buggy, couple of boat engines, motorbikes ( well parts from loads which would probably make 1).. Lol I've got my hoard well spread, my shed, my dads shed, my brothers garage and the work yard ( which is beginning to resemble a scene out of scrap heap challenge lol)...my wife's a very tidy sort of person and my unwillingness to throw things does throw up the odd row.. Lol Hoarding it's a man thing ( except for Gem lol)

Blackbriar 8,569
The shed strictly is out of bounds to Mrs.B ! I'm not really a hoarder, but I do keep clean, straight timber,re-usable screws and bolts - that sort of thing. Never seen the sense in throwing away something I can put to another use. I've always been an incurable 'skip rat', and while I don't take just any old cr4p, I've retrieved so much useful stuff over the years, you wouldn't believe it.... (I was going to have a board with outlines on it, but you've given me second thoughts now!)
