Oldest piece of kit.

Recommended Posts

Creosoted my double carrying box for my ferrets yesterday, It was made by my first tradesman when I started my apprenticeship in 1980 making it 27yrs old. It's still in great nick and is testament to old Berties workmanship.

What' your oldest piece of equipment still in use ?.

My bars my oldest bit of kit it's about 50 year old weighs a bit but it doesn't bend no matter how much force you put on it. It was my grandads then my dads and now I use it seems starnge looking at really old black and white pics of my Grandad with the terriers tied to it knowing that its still being used for the purpose he made it for even now.

Good topic  Apart from my crumbly old rabbit hounds :D my oldest bit of kit is my lucky bit of lamping string, Ive had it about 10 years it doesnt get used these days but I keep it hanging up as a keepsake. It saved my life one night I was out and a cow charged me, I just had time to slip the dog and try to jump out of the way, the cow kept coming so I lashed out at it with the bit of rope and hit it on the head which made it swerve at the last minute. Its just a smelly old bit of rope knotted at both ends that I used to use to keep one dog on the slip when I was lamping the other one, but having lost umpteen knives, leads, gloves and even a mobile phone  whilst out hunting, I think I did pretty damn well managing to keep this one bit of string all those years

It's not really mine, but the oldest piece of kit I use is my old man's HW35e. He bought it second hand when I was about 13. I'm 30 now and it still shoots sweet as a nut.
