Ireland Barron Top Dog Show And Race Day Saturday 20Th Of July 13

Sitting on the hillside, straddling the borders of Strabane and Donegal, is beautiful Barron Top Fun Farm. This was the venue for last Saturdays first ever Dog show and Race day run by Barron Tops owner Mr. George Mc Gerrigle . This brilliant show was organised by Michael Lynch in the grounds of beautiful Barron Top Fun Farm . This location provides the unique combination of being interesting , educational, and very enjoyable, and a real childrens paradise. This was very evident on Saturday with the children enjoying themselves over at the animal farm, with slides, bouncy castle, and many more attractions in a safe environment. Superman also glided in over the roof tops to wave hello to all the little people and their parents out for a relaxing and great family day out. As last Saturday was one of the hottest days of the year, the panoramic views from Barron Top was just breath taking.

It was nice to see some old friends there, and also to meet up with some new ones. I met up by chance with John Wray, at the ring side. I had often spoken to John on Facebook, but never met him face to face. John was videoing and clicking away with his camera, and generally enjoying the show. It was nice meeting and speaking to you John.

 

There was an added highlight at this first show run by Barron Top, and generated a lot of interest from the men folk at the show, and the odd female may I add. This was Horse Shoe Pitching , run so efficiently by Pat Lynch, Michaels Lynchs father. The banter, craic and laughter was good here at this ring, with Barry Holland walking away with the trophy for best pitcher. Congratulations Barry. This horse shoe pitching should be included at every show, there was so much interest, and a brilliant sport for young and old.

And Finally, may I take this opportunity to thank the judges on the day. Whippets/ Colm Farrell / Lurchers Barry Holland/ Terriers Ian Greer/Ladies and Gents Handling Class Gerald Lynch/ Childrens Handling Class Margaret Mc Stay for a difficult job ,carried out with honesty and precision. A big thank you to all involved.

 

John Lip Rooney was there clicking away with his camera and recording every ones moment of glory. All of Johns photographs are now up on Face Book for all to see. Thanks to John Lip for taking the time out to record our special moments at this show. John you have a great personality and a great sport and above all a good friend. You are a true sportsman , and you are always more than welcome at our shows here in the North of Ireland. Thanks also to the NILRC for the racing, which ran without a hitch.

 

And Finally, Finally, what can I say about the organiser of Barron Tops first show , and the man behind all the hard work to make this show such a success. Michael Lynch, you done a wonderful job, and what was evident on the day , the whole Lynch family was there behind him to help out where they could. Michael, you gave us all a great family day out, full of memories and enjoyment. Many thanks for that Michael.

great write up and that hit the nail on the head margaret think that was best show of the year so far and i no i said that last week to .credit to john lip for great photos posted the one of barry at the horseshoe pitching hes so focused no wonder he lifted the trophy
