if you haven't the money for the decent bred pups then how about helping out a fella either by helping make new runs, feeding, cleaning up or helping him walk and train the dogs respect doesn't just have to be earned by how many holes you drop in a field, if you were decent natured enough then theres other ways of earning peoples trust. but if you want something badly enough then cost shouldn't come into it. I made a few whelping boxes for my mate at the hunt and didn't ask for anything because it all helps out and its nice to be nice, well a few wks down the line and he rings me up and says your pup is ready, im like what fking pup I don't want a pup. he says ive kept you the only pup that survived fron the liter for helping him out but I said I didn't want anything for that it cost me nothing to do it well he says he as greatful and was decent because I didn't charge him so 17 mnths later the we terrier is working away happily for me. and it didn't cost me a penny he even gave me the jabs aswell.

no more likes :D but this is what its all about-do as to others-as you would be done yourself :yes: atb

This topic could go on for ever, we all have different thoughts about it, I personally gift dogs to honest lads some that I know some that I don't, but the ones I don't know are garunteed by good friends. Sadly my 2 litters I had lately didn't produce many pups so there wasn't much on offer, I kept back 2 out of each litter and gifted 1 to my pal. I have a yard full of dogs and may find in the future I don't have enough time to bring them all on sensibly, so after worming, jabbing feeding for 6 or what ever months I'd gift to some one who mite not have a lot of dogs or have the money to buy one, as long as they have the work and are good lads and garuntee me they won't sell it or pass it on it come back to me and I decide what happens with it. Some may agree with this others won't, but I'v have paid silly money for lots of dogs only to find there not what I want or aren't good enough at there jobs, not all some I still have now. But the safest bet is to breed your own or find some one you know to have good dogs and see them work and ask to buy a pup tell them what your about offer them days out let them see your a good man and you can't go far wrong, most honest terrier men will gift you a pup if they think your good enough. Nothing better than hearing a dog you bred is doing well in the right hands doing what it should, atb ucrbuch

I have a litter here at the minute all pups gifted to good friends but the lads came up with the idea of jaging the pups to spread the cost of rearing many hands make light work lads and it was well welcomed

You must have really good mates back fill lol

As said plenty different opinions, easier when you fall in with like minded lads. I travelled 10hrs a few weeks back to collect a couple of pups. Never met the breeder before but someone vouched for me & they were gifted. A mate I used to dig with was & still is the complete opposite. The breeding is more important than the dogs, he thinks breeding best to best is bullshit....better if its Middleton wether it works or not cos theres a chance it'll still work & the pups sell without fail!!!!

These pups will be given plenty time to enter, if in the end they dont make it the lad knows I'll do the right thing 'in both our opinions'. I'll not sell pups, costs very little to rear a healthy litter in contradiction to what the peddlars say. Same lads who'd leave a dozen pups on a bitch....cull a few? But thats £600 profit! Only selling surplus to cover costs....yeah right

iv never been one to have a lot of money around me, neither have I been one to breed pups if not needed (ALL of mine have been GIVEN to me thanks to good mates) if I was to breed pups id be very careful who id give them to...I know it wouldn't happen but even IF my mates did say look heres a few quid I know you're on your ass im sure theyd know the reply. Id never take money for a dog no matter how much cash I was offered or how much I needed money. Soon as money gets involved things start going tits up sounds like to me if you bred a litter youd rather flog the lot for 250 a piece rather than give to trusted friends.

trouble is that people are just breeding for the money the working dogs should be sold to people that are going to work them if

they cant for what ever the reason maybe then return it to the breeder and see if they can re home.

some good working strains have been lost through pet homes breeding shit to them and saying from working lines

its all about the pound signs as the title says just my opinion stick to what you know are some one you know when buying then

you should get roughly what you pay for. ATB lee .
