Toal2011 40
Foxy that's a ridiculous statement to come out with. Sometimes you can't believe the rubbish people come out with on this site. What does any man get out of running game in long grass and.then same people complain about a ban or no game in the season. Nobody should be out hunting with that weather or this time of year simple give the game a Chance to reproduce and rare young 6 Quote Link to post

Simoman 110
Ground is like bell iron here and with the temperatures I am careful exercising the dogs, never mind expect them to run something. Far too much risk of heat exhaustion, broken toes or torn ligaments.... Quote Link to post
staffs riffraff 1,068
I don't like letting the runners off the lead in this heat but I did go out last week get a rabbit or 2 for the new kits so I can't judge Quote Link to post
inan 841
You would have to be a proper wanker to run dogs in this weather for abit of fun. No respect for quarry or there dogs. Plenty of wankers in the game .Sometimes I think they are in the majority. 4 Quote Link to post

But those dogs are accustomed to the heat. I don't think the style of hunting is important, running a rat or moose in the current condition is dicing with numerous dangerous injuries..............Each to their own but the last thing I would want come September is a dog kennelled through injury. Because those dogs have been bred for generations in that heat ... They are born and raised in the heat so they are obviously acclimatised .... Fetch one over here to run in the snow in January and watch it fail ...... 2 Quote Link to post
salukixgrey 779
people have pups run them on hard ground and wonder why they jack or aint got nothing left mid season... then blame the dog, I blame the owner, we all make mistakes but surely its common sense... heat plays a big factor 2, burn a dog out in this hot weather. I wont even walk my dogs till 9pm every night when its like this just not worth it... I see people walking pet dogs at 3pm in the day lately, tounge hanging right out, don't think its just lads with working dogs the majority of dog owners aint got a clue... 3 Quote Link to post
paulus 26
the ground here is a broken leg in the making, the cracks are inches wide and feet deep i let mine have a run about this afternoon, both went down and then i had to spend an hour removing grass seeds from there eyes, ears and between there toes. just not worth it. never mind deliberately running things Quote Link to post

Thats why i wont run mine mate but i dont think its all down to weather more the grounds too hard am out on pushirion every night doing ten mile with dogs on road and they love it loads of steam Quote Link to post
Simoman 110
I have reduced their exercise in this weather, i'd sooner pick it up when the weather breaks than risk heat exhaustion........... Quote Link to post
