sikastag_1 689
See if your dick was hanging on by 2 bits of skin mate what would you do? When you decide that you've got your answer. 1 Quote Link to post
AirgunGuy 362
If it's just hanging by a bit of skin then I would cut it off, clean it and bandage it up. Clean and change dressings every couple of days ;-) Had a few problems with dew claws on the terriers when I was a boy. Never had dew claws on a dog since ;-) 1 Quote Link to post
socks 32,253
Yep if its just a little bit of skin then cut it off and clean thoroughly depending on the size of the wound I would leave it undressed and wash with salt water four times a day .......... 5 Quote Link to post
desertbred 5,490
as suggested cut it off and salt water it leave without a dressing 1 Quote Link to post
Bootsha 1,306
as above, salt water, no dressing, the dog will lick and keep it clean itself if it can reach it. just keep an eye on it. Funny thing is, if i get a nasty cut or similar from work, i always, odd you may think, clean it first, then kitchen roll dripping with vinegar, bite down on a piece of wood and apply the said dressing, hurts like f**k for a few seconds, then numb, but I GUARANTEE you, that cut wont go bad. I dont suggest that you try this on your dog, as he may prefer to bite down on your arm instead of a piece of wood, but a diluted solution ??? Perhaps i just enjoy the pain lol. 1 Quote Link to post
Mr Wilkes 3,100
Some dogs never have any trouble with em , but once its ripped there a proper bastewerd. as said cut it off and bathe in salt water. I bet your next pup will be dewclawed. Quote Link to post
bedwhippet 164
Same thing happened with my old mans terrier couple weeks back but was hanging by the vein inside the nail so we just left it to fall off on its own,, didn't affect the bitch all we did was just kept it clean with salt water Quote Link to post

bird 10,013
you could have them off,but as its not a pup its bigger more of a OP for older dog,and take that bit longer to heal.Or you could tape its wrists, when you take it out+day+night. Bryn not had he done, but as had few probs with his, but more in the day than the night.Imade sure my pup Buck had is off when a young pup, and very glad he did as he is big+heavy clumusy bugger .lol Quote Link to post

hargreavesheber 93
I've just had em off my 3yr old bitch. Kept catching and breaking em so enough was enough. Taken a while to heal. About 3 weeks, got a bit infected. But with antibiotics all cleared up now..... long term dogs much better off.... Atb 1 Quote Link to post
