suppose you sell it on an its tethered outside a shop and some bairn has its eye taken out by a bad dog...id take it for a long walk and dig a hole myself. not running the risk of that happening. not that the dogs to blame, its just the way it is. do the right thing mate.

Just find a responsible person who does not have kids, will not tie him outside shops, will put him in a different room or in a crate or a kennel if kids visit and will muzzle him if walking where kids may be. Not difficult, just needs somebody who uses his/her brain to think about the problem and act accordingly. Lots of dogs are uncertain and nervy around kids, some have even been teased beyond endurance by them. Some very well-trained working collies will not tolerate close contact with free range kids or will nip them same as they do sheep if they think they need sorting out. As for advertising a dog for free, that is a good way for the dog to end up with somebody with an eye for a quick profit or worse.

 

If you look at lurcher rescue websites, many will only be rehomed to people without children. So far they are not the dogs which make the headlines for attacking kids.
