GSkye 94
Hi guys, I'm pretty new to this sport and although I've got my knowledge about my rifle and rifles in general from research online. I'm wondering what the Pro's & Con's are to the .25 rifle (spring or PCP)? I've read a few reviews online but it was biased towards the rifle model than to the actual .25 configuration. As ref to EdgunUSA (YouTube) I get the idea it's like being hit with a "pool ball" than to the .177 "marble" and .22 "golf ball", in his video it seemed to kill a squirrel instantly, without a flinch. If it helps, I'm looking to invest in a BSA Tactical XL in .25. Any comments or advice/knowledge is highly appreciated. Many thanks, Grae Quote Link to post
alex.mc 12
Pro's........ heavy hitter, devastating at close ranges! Con's....... Trajectory! It would appear that 25 yards is the limit realistically, beyond that the loopy trajectory means learning some very big holdovers. If it was FAC though.....? Quote Link to post
Elliott 436
FAC would definately be worth a look although I'm sure Daz will be along soon, he has a Rapid TTR in .25 at sub 12 ft/lb and has had some excellent results through practicing hold over and calibrating his scope 1 Quote Link to post
GSkye 94
I thought it would require a FAC but I wasn't sure on the fpe of a .25, it appears BSA doesn't show it :S Quote Link to post
GSkye 94
PS: being new, I'm not sure if I've posted this under the right section. If a Mod wants to remove it to the right place, feel free. I do apologize If not, I'll remove this so I don't look stupid haha Quote Link to post
bunnyman 68
Hi G Sky,i own a bsa scorpion se multi shot pcp in .25 cal at 11.5fpi keep the range down to 35 yds its devastating to rats, bunniies, infact most vermin, it hits hard, ,i use H&N FTT pellets which are very accurate and consistant, you have to practise to get the range correctb but once learn,t its no problem,i also own and and shoot an hw80 sringer in .25 cal, that is also great fun, atb brian Quote Link to post
AR177 588
daz shoots out to about 60 or so yards with his .25, he loves his 1 Quote Link to post
Craig83 52
Hi mate, Iv played with a Daystate Air Ranger Extreme, which is a 80fpe in .25 and its awesome. The .25 round at 80fpe flies fairly flat and its devastating at range. If your going to go for a .25 in FAC Daystate 80fpe is the way forward. If your going to stick to 12fpe then a .22 is good enough. I would say up to 40fpe a .22 is the way forward. Quote Link to post

Sounds like a good rifle to use for the stuff i'll be shooting (general farm yard pests) but obviously, if i need to pay for a FAC(?) or anything, it just makes the gun more expensive and exclusive use as to my .22 Lightning. I'm just looking to confirm kills as much as wound something and chase it about, i like to think i have a clean conscience and sleep at night Grae Quote Link to post

Hi Craig, I've seen a few daystate videos (Team Wild?) that highly honor them and they look like the dogs danglers i think cash is my main concern as for how often i hunt, i don't think would justify the price im only starting off really so i still have much to learn and the ladder of weapons to climb up, thank you for you help. I've Owned My Theoben TTR 1 .25 cal running at 11.4 ft/lbs with H & N FTT 19.91 gr pellets for a Year Now and absolutely love it Best shot is a 67 yard Woodie heart shot passed through woodie but not without imparting the Mother of Kinetic energy for an instant kill. But i have spent a hell of lot of range time to know where My pellets are going, Now that i also have the HW100 .22 cal for long Distance i'm now going to trial the JSB Exact Kings in 25.4 gr for Extra Wallop but dropping My Max range to 55 yards which is 8.5 Mildots on the Falcon Menace EMD scope. atvb Daz 7 1 Quote Link to post

Grae Second hand market is good, once you buy FAC you'll find it hard to shift at a value. There are some reasonable priced 80lb .25 rifles around you just got to look. I'm sure there was one on gunstar Quote Link to post
