rob284 1,682
Funny one really the dogs need to start to be conditioned but it is to hot during the day. I been setting alarm for 3 in morning and doing a few hours road walking then. Gotta do what needs to be done It got me thinking after talking to my muka who plays rugby they started pre season 1 July ready for first game first few days in sept. training in 25+ degrees for two hours must be madness lol Been there and done that.... ...................even the props managed it . fair play getting up so early how do you think they train abroad Quote Link to post
bendrover 556
just walks up and down the lanes with mine, in this heat, no way am i risking them putting something out of the undergrowth and have no water available to submerge them in to cool them down. accidents like that are not accidents Quote Link to post

sikastag_1 689
If you want to walk dogs in this heat its a 4 o'clock in the morning job or 11 o'clock at night, even then last night at 11 it was still above 20. Hard job keeping everything cool never mind walking them in it not during the day anyway half 12 I was walking mine the other night because it was just too hot and anyone that runs dogs in this weather is not wired up right. 2 Quote Link to post

Haggis81 147
Mine wont be doing anything to much until its cooler, I don't see point in stressing dogs out trying to push them on after all its only middle of july :-/ It will be cooler soon enough! And remember Humans have a different cooling system to dogs Everyone to their own lads 2 Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
Never much thought about this pre-season stuff till I came on here, dogs were/are kept more or less the same with only sunny day 'basking' and a swim or two thrown in... Now this years thrown a few things out of kilter with the heat but worst of all is my age and new bad back! I wouldn't mind but a week or two ago, me an the mutt had been flying, on my new bike an never felt so good...! A bit of a bugger! But lets face it, judging by your routines your dogs should be well on the way to real fitness once the season is well underway. Quote Link to post
