Prankstaaaa 1
Hi all, my pups eye starting swelling so I took him to vets, she gave him some eye drops and booked him in a week later. One week later both eyes are bad so she did a skin scrape and said he has Demodectic Mites (IIRC) she has told me to give him advocate once a week for, four weeks. Also Ceporex anti-biotics and eye drops still. It's another week down the line and they are still no better? She Also said its not transferable to other dogs (as I have another) upon googling it, it says it is! Just thought I would ask here to see if any one else had this happen? Pup is 3 months old. japs eye 46
i have a pup with it but its on his shoulders and side. 2 pups out of a litter of 7 have it and the rest are clear so not sure if its transferable and the vet said she just treated a few hounds out of a pack with it but the rest were clear so it may back up the non transerable theory. VOON 1,317
Its normally passed on from mother to pup and remains on the dog for the rest of its life breaking out periodically. Two shots of ivermection will clear most of it up. I think usage is .10 of a ml per 10lb. Don't give to dogs with collie blood in them. 1 Quote Link to post

I had this problem with a viszla and treated as above and it never came back. Did not breed with her tho as it can be transferred to off spring but it never passed on to any of the other dogs (32 in kennels). IIRC it lives under the skin and stays there as its already in the dog, surprised it doesn't show up elsewhere on the dog tho. Quote Link to post
bitchie 292
our dogs look like that after hunting wildboar in kornfields. because the branchs hit against thair faces when they run. maybe yours run through undergrowth/copse (bushwhack) when you walk them. it can hapen everyday abit so you dont realize it but when you walk them everyday and they do it. it get day by day worser because of no time to heal. it´s just one possibility. can not realy say something from here. good luck.
