RubyTex 1,957
Sorry, thats wrong, you can not get it done yourself, but a charity ect can do it for you for a fee. Normally about £25 Hmmm. Thanks for the advice. I don't suppose I have much to worry about as I have a FAC, but I still don't want these people seeing spent convictions. It will be fine mate...i have spent and the place i volunteer at did an enhanced disclosure for me to work with kids, oaps, vulnerable people etc and it was absolutely fine. I know it's not ideal but if they ask be open and honest about it and you will go a long way
the_stig 6,614
I had one done when I was coaching and the manager of a local football team the club had it done --it came back with firearms offences on it ,it was supposed to only be seen by one person --within weeks half the fecking club and village knew about it Thats poor nothing like being confidential.. Shame it was not a big firm or civil service you could of roasted them for that thing was it was 20 year ago I was a bit surprised it came up...other stuff didnt
Astral 253
For my work with vulnerable kids and adults I have to have a full disclosure done every year, however you get different types of CRB, a full disclosure is expensive and normally falls to the employer to pay for so they will only do it if they really have too. Otherwise for contact with sensitive data (Dependent on just how sensitive we are talking) They will most likely just do a basic, either way you shouldn't worry as in most cases I have heard of spent minor convictions are usually ignored anyway. You need a CRB to do anything these days... I personally have a bit of a gripe about it as I think it "puts off" people who have changed from applying for certain work, for instance I worked in drug and alcohol services. Who would be best suited to this job? an ex user would! Why? because they have insight, and really know what the people they work with are going through thus can help them better, and spot when they may be about to relapse faster. They wont get a job though if they have ever been caught! Ridiculous.
Guest long-tail
I've got an opportunity to do a bit of work for a big company but they insist on CRB checks. I was wondering if you can get your own done or if you need the prospective employer to do it for you? i asked anout this a while back few answers here http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/278376-crb-check/?do=findComment&comment=3038807, my employer sent it off after i completed the personel details,i also got a copy of the check the same time my employer got theres with nothing on it to worry about

brucemyster 75
You can get your own CRB done, just done one myself, that then belongs to you. A new scheme coming in where you pay £13 per year which then allows you to update it and take it to a new setting providing it's in the same field as when the CRB was issued, security or childcare for instance.
