General lee 979 Posted July 18, 2013 Report Share Posted July 18, 2013 I had a hen go broody a month ago she hatched 5 chicks this is her second hatch for me the last lot are fine and around 4 months old I went to check them yesterday and she had killed all 5 and went back to sitting on a empty nest box I've never had this before and it has sickened me to be honest any one else had this happen? bobcullen79 1,495 Posted July 18, 2013 Report Share Posted July 18, 2013 I had it this year with a first time broody, it could have been because I moved/separated her a few days prior to hatch, but I was lucky, I managed to revive the chicks. Second time round she was fine. Could be a number of things bud. Just one of those things.. The same bantam is now sitting again in the communal nest boxes - on nothing!.
