paulus 26
If im 100% honest, why should any supplements be of benefit to a fit healthy dog if it receives the correct food it should get everything it needs from this nutrients wise, couple this with good stockmanship (housing/exercise/routine day to day maintenance) then a dog should only need anything else, if medically there is something amiss. i am not saying supplements necessarily do any harm, merely questioning if the do any good? a lot of claims made are very open to interpretation, like, black is a dark shade of white where as in fact white is a light shade of black

Thing is they can't do the dog any harm so all it does is cost you a few pennies to try ..............
sandymere 8,263
Another good placebo, at best it may reduce the bodies use of fat which could be useful if you have an obese dog but as fat is the main energy source reducing the bodies ability to utilise it isn’t a good idea for normal weight dogs especially if they are expected to work. As ever the cure alls are very suspect as biology just isn’t that simple. Just get yourselves some SupraNutraC. Edited July 18, 2013 by sandymere
socks 32,253
Plenty of qualified professionals advocate the use of cider vinegar .........
sandymere 8,263
Plenty more don't lol, there's plenty who advocate all sorts, things like homeopathy and the like but it don't make them work . Hows adding a little bit of a slightly acid substance to an acidic stomach going to make a difference. All the ingredients it contains are simple common stuff, no special chemicals, even the weight loss is walking on dodgy science. Take credit for maintaining a healthy fit dog rather than give credit vinegar or garlic unless your feeding lots of chips.

Dependency can alter biochemistry ie if you take a laxative every day your system will become dependent on there use and so will become constipated when stopping in spite of not actually needing them in the first place. But in the case of most over the counter supplements likely no more than say stopping eating digestive biscuits would affect you if up until then you had eaten them every day. Keep in mind we are not very good a judging outcomes although we think we are. Well there you go if the men in white coats with letters after their names can't agree who are we to think we are right ... As with all things dog related I will sit study it decide it may be worth trying ... Try it ... If it works stick to it if it don't bin it ... I see a difference in my dogs using cider apple vinegar and a sprinkle of garlic on their food so I will continue to use it ... Each to their own .............

Its a system that works in most things, one we all use, but it has its limitations with health as the link I posted looks at.
