Money Saving Experts?

Recommended Posts

I was just watching 'Superscrimpers' on TV - I pi55 myself when they reckon you can't feed 4 people for a tenner or you can't have a day out for 20 quid ! Some woman on there tonight spent £20K last year - on holidays !! :icon_eek:

I recycle, re-use and up-cycle (hate that word!) all sorts of things - any screws I remove are kept if they're in good nick, I start my seeds off each year in old Pot Noodle or yoghurt pots and I once bought 4 knackered old bikes from the local tip for a fiver, put the good bits together and made 2 working bikes - kept one and sold the other for a tenner!

So, what are your favourite money-saving or money-making tips?

Was it on the BBC by any chance? They are probably having a dig at the government about the cuts to welfare.

you can easily feed a family of 4 on a tenner but these days it's not concidered the done thing to tell people on lower incomes that they could be more efficient with their money

I could feed a family for 70 quid a week, if you ask me to do it for a day then it is a little harder because you can't buy in bulk but then real life people surely don't work their budget out per day.

Most people seem to be ignorant about cooking food and feeding a family

The 'challenge' is a little different each week, but it is generally to feed a family of 4 for a week between £50 and £80. One Mum in the last series spent £35 a week on chocolate for herself!

When you consider that, on average, we throw away around 1/3 of all the food we buy, it's no wonder people are so frivolous with their money - I mean if even food has become a disposable item.........
