With Fallow Round The Corner Who Goes Out

Recommended Posts

With aug round the corner and heat in full swing over the years I've never gone out in Aug after the bucks I usually leave them until mid to late sept when the weather is cooler and the undergrowth has dropped.

Is it just me or do others do the same

Its always a problem with heat,I have just found a guy who will let me use his chiller, but its getting them extracted and to the chiller that's the problem,I wont bother till the temp falls, unless there's a cold snap moves in but its not likely listening to people they recon this weather is here for a while, its not just the heat but the B*****d clegs and midges bite like buzzards up here,

I normally start in august but only prickets , & then not flat out , just a few early mornings & odd evening in a seat .I like to take the time to see whats about & knock over any foxes that happen by , the guy that runs/keepers the little shoot on the small farm normally invites me out as a thank you which is good. The deer play havoc with his feeders so he's always on the phone elling me were he's seen them .Carcass wise its in the chiller so that's not a problem ...Mid September is when I start in earnest ..

I saw a group of Does on a walk through the New Forest last week, 5 of them, let me and a friend (Who were chatting away at the time so hardly being stealthy) walk within about 90 feet of them before they slowly sauntered into the woods. Not bothered by us was an understatement!

All I could think about was venison steak....mmm
