Brecon Beacons Servicemen Die

Recommended Posts

Fitness has nothing to do with it .... Training and education has everything to do with it and a TA soldier will have nowhere near the knowledge and experience of a full time soldier fit or not and that's what makes the difference when the shit hits the fan .........

Hope the men in qestion get a full military burial though the died in pursuit of The beret and served this nation RIP

This again proves the point that a TA soldier is miles apart from a full time soldier ... Taking on board plenty of fluids is basics when you are on an arduous rout march and something that is drilled

They were on selection for the TA SAS.   http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-23311651   I did wonder why the f**k they didn't just stop and knock up some impromptu shelter when they felt heat strok

Repect Socks thoughts but his opinion that all TA are uneducated unfit is a very sweeping statement indeed .

I servied with a ex RM Reserve he pissed over most full time squaddies in inter services comps and he was 40 and the lads he went up against was fit 20 years old P company

You can still have any full time service person apply who has as little if not less training education than a TA personal for all we know some of the six may have had service history prior to become TA ,

Let see the full facts

I never said they were unfit as fitness is a personal thing but the fact remains that MOST TA lads will not have the experience or training of a full time soldier ... to say anything different is silly ... It's like saying a special bobby has the experience and knowledge of a full time copper .........

We have the reputaion throuout the world for one of the best armed forces we are going down a path that worries me , the ta has become More pro but i think socks is right. I grew up with ex para regs who then went 4 para They treated it like a jolly athough in recent years its become better eqipped and training Ive been told is comparable with reg , we need a full time pro army no matter what the cost

full time squaddies have been known to train for years prior to selection and have still failed. I have known RAF officers that could pass the fitness elements but failed the weapons training element, did you know that Lewis Collins was a TA para  he went down like a bag of spuds when he mouthed off one night at a real one :laugh:

There was a certain nco who was stationed at Brize Norton, his job was just to beast the babies during jump training, I walk into the swimming pool one afternoon and he had them swimming lengths with a black bucket tied to their legs :laugh::laugh: Good old Russ, he was injured in the Falklands conflict by an Argentinian artillery shell, he was fooking nuts, great bloke though
