How To Fish A Flying C

Recommended Posts

At this time of year with the water temp up the best way by far is up and across and whip it back over them quickly...takes can be explosive. But as said a few factors to look at when reading the pool...depth, speed of current etc. Cast upstream and across, let it drop for a couple seconds and reel it back just faster than the speed of the current to get the blade spinning. I've had them reeling as fast as possible. Colour wise...if the water is clear, black with silver or gold blade...if it got a tinge of colour, red or orange with gold or copper blade.

I used to fish this method on the Tay a lot with a mate who ghillies there. As my mate knew the beat, pools and exactly where the fish were he was dynamite with this method. I preferred an upstream copper/silver Lurgan Toby which is equally as effective. Great method for stirring up dormant fish lying in the pools and for new fish going through and probably the best method for fresh Grilse.

Tight lines ;-)
