Guest norseman
as if the wasps weren't going to be a pain in the hole, ive noticed droppings on top of the two wheelie bins and window sill at the back of the house. now I have a more concerning problem. hopefully you lads can clear it up for me. to me it looks like rat or mice droppings. but we also have a shed load of bats at night flying along the gardens. so is it safe to lay traps if it is in fact rats? heres a few pictures Quote Link to post
Outlaw Pete 2,224
Norseman; I hate to not be there and be able to make a 'hands on' analysis. But, from what you're saying and what I'm seeing? I'd reckon that's bat shit. Quote Link to post
moxy 617
I will second that. Now shhhh and don't say the b@t word. Quote Link to post
Mrg 8
Rat droppings smear when rubbed between fingers where as bat droppings crumble ! Not the nicest thing 2 do but its worth giving it a go for piece of mind 1 Quote Link to post
Guest norseman
thanks for the advice, (i read up on the subject) I think the droppings are too small to be a rats from what i read. that's a handy tip mrg, i will try it out thanks again lads Quote Link to post
Bugz 6
are the droppings grain of rice size? If so deffo mice. rat and bat poo are like peanut size. If there are bats about then a pesty wouldnt be able to treat any other issues such as wasps as i believe its a ten grand fine for killing a single bat? Quote Link to post
Bugz 6
Rat droppings smear when rubbed between fingers where as bat droppings crumble ! Not the nicest thing 2 do but its worth giving it a go for piece of mind yep thats correct, and rat poo looks smooth where as from my experience bat poo is a bit rough and rugged. Quote Link to post
Matt 160
The size will depend on which species of bat it is. Most commonly, bat droppings are confused with mouse droppings, not rat. As someone has already suggested; break a dropping in half; bat droppings are 'fibrous' unlike rodent droppings. Quote Link to post
Guest norseman
I done the test on the dung, and it crumbles to dust when rubbed between fingers. and its fairly small. im just glad its not rats to be honest. thanks for all the advice. its looking like bats then and don't worry I wont be looking to get any 10 grand fines haha Quote Link to post
