gnasher16 30,594
I wouldnt get too excited you didnt miss much .............had an average amateur career.....my ol fella being a former britsh champion helped when i turned pro as it gave me good connections......suppose i was a decent young prospect at one stage went unbeaten early on but i was found wanting when i moved up in class and in them days life was all about money for me so i became a paid sparring partner.....mixed it with the top names of the day in Britain......this was when being a sparring partner was a good career in itself, today they call them journeymen opponents............anyway unforeseen circumstances brough my career to an abrupt halt at the ripe old age of 31 and by the time i was ready to lace the gloves back on i was a little too old or so i thought at the time..... though i look at people like Mark today and wonder if that was really so.............but its a hard game even when you have talent.....i was plenty durable enough and could take a great shot but i wasnt blessed with great skill and talent like some of the other lads so it was probably for the best.
