smudgersmith 2
Hi all, Been away for a few years due to work but back again. Built myself a new court and have two 14 month of Jill's. My question is can I introduce another Jill ? I know its a no no to bring in a Hob but will my two Jill's gang up on another if introduced. Thanks for any advice. Smudger Quote Link to post
The one 8,474
Try either introducing them in a carrying box , no room for a big squabble and your getting them all mixed up with the same sent or wait till feeding time and pop her in , they should all be feeling maternal now so there shouldn't be a real barney once they have established the pecking order Quote Link to post

GreyRake 108
It varies from ferret to ferret. Jills are worse than (castrated) hobs to introduce. Try them one at a time with the new comer. Hold them near each other first, see if there's any obvious aggression. Then let them down and keep a close eye on things. You can probs expect a bit of dominance fighting at some point, trying to scruff each other etc but as long as they are not trying to rip each others throat out, causing bleeding or shitting from fear just try and leave them to sort it out. If it's persistent scrapping, keep them separate and do small daily trials together until it calms down. Can also have them together and distract them with toys and oil so they are in each other company but not fighting, can help them forget about it whilst around each other. Quote Link to post
happyferret123 13
Might be good to do first introductions out of the hutch. Somewhere none of them have been before. I had problems when I bought a new hutch I put my hob in there while he was separated off from the girls (while in season) when I tried putting the girls in with him he was really funny about the hutch, like they were stealing it. Aggressive towards them. So I took him out and let them have the new hutch for a couple of days and then put him in with them later and had no probs. So perhaps do first introductions away from the hutch, then put the new one into their hutch for a bit so it can get its smell around the place and settle a bit, before putting your others in with it. Ferretone oil is good to help bonding as can lick it off each other. Quote Link to post

smudgersmith 2
Gents, Thanks for your comments and advice. A friend who is just about to go back into the Army has 3 Jills and a bloody big Hob. He has found homes for all but one Jill, I said I will take this in. She is not a great worker but has given a few years good service and I don't want to see her go to just anyone. Yep made the Court out of what was left with the house re-build 8ft x 6ft x 3ft all the front opens for easy access. Cheers Steve Quote Link to post
