stealthy1 3,964
Was cleaning out the ferrets today and dragged out this rabbit skin, don't understand why, but it seems they have entered the rear and eaten their way up through the rabbit, all that's left is the pelvis and back leg bones, the rabbit is completely empty, even the rib cage has been eaten and the fat licked from the inside of the skin. I had to pull the head and the front legs back out from the skin to lay it flat for the pix, anyone else seen this? Quote Link to post

stealthy1 3,964
Been keeping ferrets off and on since I was eight, and not had this happen before, the 6 ferrets I have in this cage normally leave the skin flat on the floor like a bear skin rug Quote Link to post

stealthy1 3,964
Your feeding them to much i would be lucky to get the thigh bones back out Think I disturbed them before they'd finished, or there would have been no thigh bones Quote Link to post
seany 54
I found a dead rabbit like that while ferreting last season. A little later that day I saw a stoat knocking about and assumed it was his kill? So maybe your kits have stoat blood in them lol..... You could charge a fortune for them! Quote Link to post
Guest norseman
that's mad haven't heard that before. but I do notice my ferts biting at the rabbits hole at first. but they don't make no sleeping bags from them lol Quote Link to post
Cookie2686 0
My three do this quiet often and the reason for doing this is the same as any other wild carnivores. It's the easiest and softest entrance Quote Link to post
rob190364 2,594
you'd have shite yourself if there was still a ferret in the skin and it came scurrying towards you full on pet cemetery moment! Must admit, never seen them do that. Quote Link to post
