you will hear alot of guys going on about the hw80s being heavy before you start believing these statements go and shoulder a few guns as said above the 80 90 and 95 are all great guns that will last forever given the [bANNED TEXT] treatment but thats only the tip of the ice berg ,plenty of good guns out their but i cant see past weihrauchs

if you want to narrow the search

1 - how much do you want to spend

2 - are you after a scope as-well

3 - what caliber

4 - new or second hand

i have has 2 hw95s one in .177 and the other in .22 but found them too light for me .i know shoot an 80k which i find perfect for me but everyone is different . go to your local shop and start shouldering guns . if your part of a club ask to sholder some of the guys guns

hope this helps

HW80.

Not heavy really its just because it has a large air reciever that folk bang on about the weight.

I drilled a hole 23mm wide by 200mm long and inserted a copper pipe filled with lead into the stock to balance my fac one out and its tipping the scales now at 12lb 11 oz with a large MTC taipan scope on it.

Its shooting even more accurate now and has a tuned trigger, tuned action with delrin washers, polished internals, piston sleeve etc.

After doing the work to it i stuck my sub 12 spring in her and its now got next to no recoil and shoots as good as my 97ks.

Ok its now what you can call a heavy springer with the extra weight added but I am happy wandering round with it and to be honest i don't feel the weight when i am out and about.

It balances beautifully in my shoulder and has an adjustable butt pad which gives it the perfect fit for me.

I stupidly nearly sold it in a total mad moment but came to my senses in the nick of time and can honestly say i love this rifle.

In FAC its got a superb fast lock time and very little recoil at about 20 fpe, BRILLIANT GUN

In sub 12 straight out of the box they are a nice light rifle to shoot and anyone who moans about their weight need to get some pressups in.:thumbs:

Buy one and never regret it pal.

As Simon, Pianoman on here about them, he's the best shot here and knows more about springers than anyone else.

Regards

HW98, HW80 or 95 are all very good rifles and will beat any SMK even on a very very bad shooting day.

Not really had much to do with the 90 but have heard good things about them.

Try the HWs mate and see which suits you best.

Sounds to me as though you have reached a stage where you have outgrown the likes of SMK. So that will also go for Hatsan...or as I prefer to call them; Hatstand! (Might as well be; for the quality of construction and steel used in them!) Buying cheap means buying shit that doesn't perform as well as expensive quality rifles. It does not mean buying anything just as good for less money, no matter what the gunshop guy behind the counter will tell you. Why buy crappy bloody "copies" when the real deal is not a king's ransom to buy -And even better value second hand!

If you want to shoot a break barrel spring air rifle, all the Weihrauch guns are the absolute best.

HW80 or the slightly shorter HW80K is the King/Queen of the lot! It is the most accurate, reliably tough in all-conditions break-barrel rifle I've ever owned and I adore mine. You can do anything with one; Customise it with a new, stunning walnut stock AND, if you have the legal ticket, tuning it to higher performance for an FAC rifle that will hit a rabbit like a sledgehammer and still remain as accurate as a PCP.

A lot of people will complain about how heavy the HW80 is. It's nothing of the sort. It is about 8-10lbs in all-up scoped-weight; depending on how big and hefty your scope is so, a sling is handy to carry it. But it is not unmanageable or no one would bother!. I keep my scopes for it small, light, simple and uncomplicated with 40mm front lenses. And with the right pellet there is no other break barrel spring air rifle to equal it for field accuracy.

HW95 is very good, very accurate. The lighter of the bunch but, it's a bit too light for my liking.

HW98 is basically the HW95 rifle with a shrouded Bull-Barrel and an adjustable stock and is the better of the two rifles in my experience.

HW90 is a gas ram rifle and this action differs from the spring powered HWs' with an inch or two of "drop" from the barrel before the gas strut engages on cocking the rifle. Also, it has a shorter, snappier let-off as it let's off its air charge in one go, unlike an uncoiling spring -even though we are talking micro-seconds of difference. It is an extremely accurate rifle with the right pellet and the right shooter behind it but, it takes a little getting used-to so, try one well before you buy one is the best advice here as they are not to everyone's liking.

My mate Andy here shoots a .20 version like it's an extention of his arms and hands! With a very, very high standard of accurate marksmanship with his HW90. But, he's well used to it and loves it. It's a fantastic rifle but its cocking action and choppy firing characteristics are not one I personally get along with. But that must not mean to detract from what a superbly accurate, hard-hitting all-round hunter this rifle is.

These are the four best break-barrels you can buy. SMK and Hatstand do not begin to come close. End Of!

I've had two 95s, both bought new in 177. Really wanted to like the gun. That's why, after selling the first one, I bought another.

However gently I held it, and however careful I was with trigger control, muzzle flip impeded my accuracy. And these were the older versions with the barrel weight.

As for the 80, It felt more comfortable in my hands, and I wanted to keep it, but I found the lock time in 12ftlbs very sluggish and the accuracy only so so.

I've never had problems with the 97, 77k or 98, but I would still like to have another 95 or 80. I've considered an SFS tune for the former and a weaker spring making the gun run at about 10ft lbsr, or a short stroke for the latter. However It can't quite bring myself to risk being bitten again. I've lost too much money selling airguns in the past.

What worries me now is that the 95 with shorter barrel and light weight Weihrauch silencer, is, according to some, even more prone to muzzle flip than before.

Would appreciate your advice on this. Some people say it's best to steer clear of magnum airguns set at UK limits, such as the 80, and some of the Dianas. Pity really, since I really like the feel of these big lumbering howitzers.
