After whats gone off in whippet 99,s life you can understand his attitude mate.

My heart go,s out to anyone whos suffered tragedy in their life........but nobody can dictate anyone elses life because of their own misfortune.

I dont think hes trying to dictate anyones life, just think he cant find it in himself to feel sympathy for someone who has largely been the author of his own misfortune. I lost a friend to alcoholism and to be honest its not great to witness, but like people have said, you cant help a man who wont help himself.

potentially another thread of football fanatics versus people with no respect for the man no more,.........yeah good player in his day but his legend status has drowned on his self inflicted disease..

I've never understood the pity handed out to this bloke. He was good when he was a player, but now he's just an alkie like all the other thousands of alkies round the country.

Defo' soon the drink will kill him......always thought he was a funny man, great talent.....obviously he a wee brain fart in going to play for the Huns... To be fair i'm fed up hearing about him get

We dont know the way of life of young men who reach super stardom thrust into the media Earning thousands a week cosseted by there clubs maniulated by agents , training finishes Golf horse racing yes for some gazza come from the toon. Surrounded bt drinkers jimmy as a mate golf. Dont think so. Every event he went to have a beer champagne sir , he like george best has fell victim yes he is a victim now a days the pfa have councilers finacial advisers etc etc gazza. Needed guiding years ago iam afraid its to late To those who say fook him. Have a look around you some one you know or family may just be a secret lemonade drinker

Im not a football fan so Gazzas skill passed me by, I have been to rehab myself though and ive been half dead in hospital through the booze so I know what a struggle it is for the man. Especially as if his mates have said, he has mental problems too so its doubly hard. Looking at those pics of him slumped in a doorway, you just know the inevitable "Gazza Found Dead" headline is just around the corner.

Nobody likes wastefulness......but theres no need to be nasty about it we dont have to go sticking the boot in to everyone whos down on their luck just because they,ve got money or fame.......like famous or wealthy people shouldnt get down on their luck !

I don't idolise the man in anyway, his achievements in football are no doubt great but they mean bugger all to me really other than a general appreciation for the fact that he has achieved at the highest level.

So putting that aside, whether alcoholism is considered an addiction, self inflicted, a weakness or a disease is somewhat irrelavent, there is only one thing stopping an alcoholic getting straight and that's their own mind. At what point do you say "enough's enough, you're on ya own because there's f**k all anybody can do for you". Alcoholics might have a genetic predisposition to an addiction but there's only one way out and that's strength of mind and will. If somebody with nervous damage needed physical rehab to walk again but after years of help showed little drive to help themselves you'd tell em to go bollocks aswell.

I don't think many would deny a man in a weak place help, but there's only so many chances one should expect.

If he could lay of the booze don't you think he would ?If it was as simple as that he wouldn't be were he is now .Having seen someone cursed with this problem it's not that easy ,he clearly has a mental problem that no one as yet can help him with . Regardless of his footballing talents & the chances & help he has already had I feel sorry for the man & hope he can defeat his demons & get back to some sort of normality .I cant believe the agony his kids must be going through seeing there old man in that condition...I really hope he pulls through but it's got all the hall marks of Bestie mk 2 ...good luck to him

If getting off the booze is as easy as some of you are making out then maybe you should open up your own clinics and charge 100k a pop...........easy money eh! the guys on his arse and cant get back up to save his life............and take his life it will. And still some of you feel the need to kick him when he's down.

I hope for your sakes no one you care for ever suffers his fate.

imo, there are players less talented than him that have won more in the game, why the f**k did he sign for rangers at the age of 28 and the peak of his career, you would think there would be EPL teams lining up to sign him. talented player yes, but won f**k all in the game.

Legend, I had that poster on the side of my wardrobe growing up northernlite lol, the good old days. Shame the way he went he just couldn't let go of football. Lost a lot in his life some through bad moves by himself and like a lot he turned to drink. He's not going to pull himself together now he's been to rehab etc and still went back on it told him hel die he still went back on it, shame but only he can help his self and its probably too far gone inside him now.

fair point, his biggest prob was he was thick, not his fault its just in his genes .You get brothers+ sisters some thick some clever, having football was his way out of a dead end job, because thats what he would been doing if it hadnt been for the football. He couldnt cope with out football true, but he prob struggle with most things in life, the drink helped him to get deal with things, no i dont think he will make old bones .!!

spot on bird!! gazza was a genuis at football because he genuinely loved the game, imo a big game in the world cup was just like a big kickabout in the park with his mates........he was the class clown who loved acting the daftie aslong as he got his fix of football he couldnt care what the world thought of him.........he got to old for his football addiction, so the joker side of him got bigger and bigger, drinking got worse and worse and now he finds himself dealing with the demons of trying to please everyone before himself..........and what a mess the poor kunts in now.......... :cray::cray:

yes no-one forced him to drink, but look at it realistically if you saw him in a pub few years back, you would buy him a drink and have the crack with him.........same as every bar/club/pub in the country........and when its all around you its a hard addiction to get away from.........

ive had issues with the drink in the past........ and believe me when you walk in every shop in the land and see a fridge lit up with the ginger lady inside its fecking hard to say no..........i still have a few cans each night but feck all like i used to drink, id never end up like gazza in a million years tho.......to f**k himself up so severely he must be on it 24/7.......... :icon_eek:

its not a disease tho, thats total bollox imo........if he wanted to get off it he could........TBH i think he stopped caring when he couldnt kick a ball with the lads each week as that was his real and only passion in life......... :(

either way its a sad situation for a true legend of the game........the one and only GAZZA.......... :notworthy::notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:

the money they have wasted on gazza , could of saved plenty of young lifes.........fact

gnasher don't make me out to be a bad person ,......I have morals and I would sooner chuck a few coins in a charity box(of my chosen charity) than give to a beggar to help fuel there addiction ,.........which 9/10 will go on alchahol or drugs.........

we had a charity fun day for my late wife on Saturday and raised £4000 for st margrets hospice..........like I said priority and morals is me

you cant blame money / stardom on alchahol addiction..............maybe you aught to go round a childrens hospice and look at them on there death bed and then read this thread again,.........
