Ive Never Been So Skint!

Recommended Posts

Don't pay attention to what other people are doing, there's a lot of people who are up to their eyeballs in debt but don't let on.

You're right there... There must be.

We're quite lucky, as we have the oil industry supporting our corner of the country,

We cover our bills, have the same unexpected things as the next guy, and not a lot left after that.

I know the money I'm on and what it can pay for. I also know a lot of people on less wages, but they seem to have everything new, car, caravan, fancy big house etc.

F**k knows how they can do it,

Some people have got 'family' money to help them along, some have been left money, and some have traded their way up through various homes/houses.

But You are 100% right in what you say, there are a LOT of people in up to their eyeballs, just because they feel the need to keep up with the Joneses!

We have no Sky, or any of the 'flash' kit everyone else seems to feel the need for and still it disapears.

i`m in a fortunate position these days not saying we hav`nt gone without and at times its been a struggle and hard graft it all came together for me around 5 years ago when i started to reap the rewar

Mrs.B and me are not remotely wealthy - we get by on what we have. Some periods have been much harder than others, but we can honestly say we don't owe a single penny to anyone. We have no credit cards, loans or overdrafts (which is, I think, how most things get paid for these days), while most people seem to spend money they don't have on things they don't need. Madness!!

Life isn't about having what you want - it's about wanting what you've got !!

This has been the hardest year financially. Living alone now has made sure of that. But I've managed. Got this fishing thing... When really I can't afford it cause I have Ayia Napa the following week... Another thing I shouldn't have booked but f**k it your only young once.

I've always been good with money, always been the one with plenty cash, fast cars, good clothes and never miss a trip away. All changed now though......Even have to buy food stuff in the cheapo section...... Pisses me off!!!!

Caviar's off the menu this year then..?

Get yer self a bird moved in... Make he pay for half of everything and its someone to do a bit of ironing and hoose work :victory:

Even better if she can turn her hand to a bit o plumbin. ;)

My pal has a polish wife...

I would have one of them

Hard working, tidy and just seems so grateful...

She works two jobs, my mates going to go part time

My Mrs ( aint married) Ain got a lot of cash.. She just buys all the food.. Which really helps..

When she gets a job and pays for half of everything I will be minted.. Until she wants a few kids

My advice to young lads is stay at home for as long as you can ,have as many nights out and holidays as you can.

Independence comes at a price and I do miss my mum

finance-wise, if I had to give any young person advice it'd be don't be temped by easy credit....don't get a credit card, overdraft, loan etc. under any circumstances, if you want something just wait til you have the money. Once you slip in the trap of getting a credit card or something on finance it's very hard to get straight again, no matter how much you promise yourself it's short term, the temptation will always be there.

Skint isn't when you have only just got enough money for food and bills etc. Skint is when you're so far behind on finance and credit cards that you're permanently in the red, and there are millions of people like that.....and it's all because they've bought things on credit cards or gone far too deep into overdrafts. I've known people to have overdrafts that are bigger than there monthly salary, it's outrageous that banks would ever allow that to happen!

That's why we're in the shit ( well half the reason), the banks, lenders etc just kept giving and giving with no real idea how they were getting it back, 100% mortgages, credit cards ( I can't believe the repayments you see touted about) etc

A couple of lads who worked for me were nearly 30 and still owed from when they were 19, black listed the lot a real mess...

It's hard for a youngster to be told at times but it can stay with you forever if your not careful...

Now for the kids coming through his will any getting on The housing ladder etc?

As far as the youngsters are concerned for most owning a house is not going to be an option, the country is going backwards not forwards, as far as renting goes there's going to be big money made from our youngsters as availability pushes up rents to the point were few can afford them along with weekly utilities and so on. Today's parents will have no options but to look after their kids for far longer than has been the normal in the past.

I think the more you chase money the more you end up needing..........until you end up being dictated to by it........its taken me years to realise the things in life most valuable are free anyway !..................I have every respect for any man who can work a pound note, but never underestimate the value of a stress free life.

We have students who come to work with us for their placement year, most of them have anything up to £20,000 worth of debt after 4 years of University and they are only in their early twenties.

How are they ever going to pay it back once they start work?

I find it unbelievable.
