First Cross Irish Terrier Whippet

Recommended Posts

About 40 years ago I visited an old school master called P Grant who lived in county Down near the coast. He owned two whippet/greyhound x Irish terrier lurchers. The dog he had was a smooth silver brindle about 24" and the bitch was about 20" and looked like a whippet with a full Irish coat. Paddy told me the bitch was the best he'd ever had on the lamp and had caught 33 rabbits on her first night afield. I often wonder if the old man might still be alive.....but I doubt it sadly.

He was bred by Charlie in Downpatrick about 8 years later, but I'm not sure if there was any closer connection than that Banter. In those days we never foresaw the internet nor the fact that anyone would ask these questions. We assumed we would be able to hunt unchallenged forever....as we always had done.....Take all the pictures you can now....your kids will appreciate them later!
