bird 9,937
Decent looking dog, as I have said before, but deffinately not my cup of tea. Too big, to heavy (NOT the pup, just the cross in general) Had a bloke visit with one a few years back, he reckoned it was a great dog, did this did that etc,, it spent a few hours on the big fields and had to be lifted into the car. Totaly done in, and not with a massive amount of work. I`d hate to imagine the pounding those shoulders will take if it gets on a long run after a hare. Hopefully it will thin out a good bit, I suspect it will as its still WAY to young to judge the final build, (to an extent, it`s still going to he a lump of a dog) I can see why folk want to try somit different, but there are reasons why the popular lurcher x`s are the popular ones. Cause they work. Oh and by the way, don`t shoot me down for saying it. We are all entiltled to our opinions if we air them civily no prob mate, there loads of xs out there far better no dout about it. But having had colliexs, bullxs, and lurcherx lurcher over the the last 30 years , i wanted to try someting differnt .And iam only going on what few people who worked this x , and read what steve Barton as said on this x, they are supposed to be a good lurcher for big deer and few foxes+ rabbits back in the 60-80s . They are big dogs but they are lot faster than they look, as said Buck had dozen rabbits in jan, and he is more faster + agile now. So as yet he doing ok , but it is earlys days mate, next year i should have a better idea what he is about, just hope he ticks the boxes, but he could be crap you just dont know, and maybe lurcher to lurher is the way to go , ?? 1 Quote Link to post
koru 12
you'll find they are very slow to mature. if you're not careful you will trigger the defence drive rather than the pray drive. when entering to teeth. hope it all works out well for you Ray Quote Link to post
