johnny boy68 11,726
Johnnyboy you seem to know your shit......why did Jocavich continue to keep playing them little drop shots when Murray is obviously so quick around the court...i couldnt work that out......he came unstuck near every time but kept carrying on doing it...........or maybe i guess thats what a good player like Murray can do,as in cut down on your options.......just seemed like everything Jocavich tried Murray had an answer for.........very entertaining watching the highest level of sport like that when you dont really understand tactics etc..............and i only saw the last set I honestly think that Djokovic thought he could wear Murray down and beat him in a grueller, which in the past would've probably happened imo especially at Wimbledon where the pressure is on Murray and all that emotional pressure used to effect him negatively. Djokovic didn't have an answer for Murrays speed and intensity today and that showed in his game when trying to pull drop shots off so much, Djokovic just didn't have a plan B and when his usual relentless aggressive play wasn't working he looked very ordinary. I honestly think we'll see Murray as world number 1 soon, especially considering grass isn't his favourite surface and the next slams in the US where he usually does well. .........Maybe your right....i even thought myself Murray in previous matches looked to be blowing hard quite early on so perhaps Djocovic was trying to test his fitness..... maybe its just a mannerism with Murray as he,s obviously fit enough. Be great to see him defend it next year regardless of the other tournaments. Djokovic is known for running that extra yard and getting that winning shot away but today Murray was just prepared to work that bit harder and the amount of 20+ shot rallies was testament to that, Murray beat Djokovic at his own game today running down everything. Murray looks down and out a lot but like you say thats just a persona he shows, he's a supremely fit guy though, and that coupled with his confidence of getting the monkey off his back and he'll take some beating now imo.
AirgunGuy 362
It was a case of the 2 best and fittest tennis players in the world going toe to toe at what they do best and that is to play and dominate from the baseline. Murray dominated that in the 1st set by just keeping the ball in play and Djockovich made a lot of unforced errors by going for the line and failing. He overhit it a lot and hit the net a lot. Murray didn't go for the line much and just opted to get the ball back which caused problems for Djockovich. Djockovich changed tactics and started to come to the net more and try drop shots but Murrays fitness and speed around the court was top class and in the end was too much for Djockovich and he just couldn't cope with it. Murray done to Djockovich what Djockovich so often does to other players. Murrays tactic was to play his normal game and in the end it payed off as he out classed Djockovich. The stats showed that Murray was the better player in almost every department. I also think that Djockovich was stunned and taken aback at Murrays class and as a result lost his game as made lots of mistakes that he wouldn't normally make!!! BOLIO1 1,078
Brilliant Andy Murray! Fred Perry would struggle to win a set against todays top women so I firmly believe Andy is the best British player by far. What a struggle that was....for two great players. Djokovic is ranked number one but he has never won a set against Andy on grass so I think that means Andy Murray must be number one on grass?

baw 4,360
Well done Murray. I only seen from half way through final set. You'll know exactly when, aye, when he started toiling lol. Thought I'd crawed him from what I saw he totally out classed him. As Johnny said, he made a very good player look ordinary. On a sour note, what was that smug toad faced, smammy wee b*****d eck doing waving the saltire. As soon as I seen it I thought, Murray's gonna be the face to drive home this independence. You can tell he was using the occasion to satisfy his own agenda.... Prick. WELL DONE THE BOY FROM DUNBLANE

When you think who has been knighted and what they've achieved to get it. I think Murray stands above a hell of a lot of them.

I for one would have no problem with him getting knighted, he's had nothing given to him on a plate, he's where he is through hard work and dedication. Being so close to the Dunblane massacre and then having to leave home as a young teen to further his career, away from his family and friends etc.........I think people don't actually realise what the lad as done to get to this level in his chosen sport. I think it's my inbuilt automatic reaction to disagree with everything Cameron says  I didn't actually realise until yesterday that Murray was actually at the school when the masacre happened, shocking to see such raw emotions so long after an event. I reckon he should be knighted
