Hello From East Yorkshire....

Recommended Posts

Just thought I would say a quick hello...

Joined the forum after reading posts for a few weeks and getting bugged that I can't see people's pics of their hawks

Just starting in falconry and so thought I would start nosing about for info....

I have a lab that isnt trained in any working manner and feel he is going to waste as 'just a pet' as he is a clever lad! he's 2 and a half and is still a giddy kipper but think he would calm nicely with something to work his brain and body! If anyone would feels they have any ideas or would like to see if they can work with him, give me a shout :victory:

I also have a standard poodle and by god can she move! Does anyone on here work with poodles? They are meant to be gun dogs but haven't seen any mention... :hmm:

Anyway... Thanks for getting this far ;)

Poodles were known to but wasn't the best working dogs,

Some folk are trying to sell poodle x lurchers n make out there the nuts but there isn't no true working poodles anywhere except for America I don't think n the vidoes of them just show you why labs n spaniels are chosen a lot more!!!!

Your dog is to old really to be started on a gun but you want to try n get in touch with a local lad n he might be able to flush but plenty of training is needed,

Thanks...

I also frequent Ilkley, is it hard to come by permissions up that way?

Hi and welcome.

Yes permission is very hard to come by over that way. However it all depends on what your asking for. If your just going to fly bop, you may be in with a shot. I have a fair lump of land over that way and I have also lost an equal amount for various reasons.

Best of luck
