Okay, so chinned for the 2nd time in 4 months by the yank. . Where can he go from here?? I'm really not sure, I'm torn between the two following thoughts:

1, "Hang you gloves up" you're never going to reach the heights your hoping for, you're 30, got a suspect chin, been beaten twice by a 41 year old who's been stopped twice by Wladimir Klitschko, Klitschko the very man you're aiming to beat, replace or emulate. .

Or 2, you're 30 (not old in heavyweight terms these days) beaten twice by America's number one ranked heavyweight (no disgrace) who in turn apart from an early career loss has only been beaten by Wladimir Klitschko. .

If he carries on I'd like to see him (same goes for the middles too) fight the best in Britain and establish who's top dog on this turf before worrying about those across waters. . My thoughts for those who are interested. . What's yours ?

Fair play for price to wanting the rematch come unstuck again. could try to rebuild and compete for domestic pos european level. he does have good power but his chin will let him down again. his confidence must be shot . would not be suprised to see him retire. as for the middles martin murray has gone the hard route in sturms back yard come away with a draw and martinez;s back yard a loss. both fights i thought he won. i would like to see a match between him and darren barker who when injury free i think is a good fighter.

I've got to laugh so many on here pinned there hopes on Price. He knocked the man down but the man got up and pinned him on the ropes and stopped him . which tells me its not because he hasn't got the skill but lacks the heart ! He jacked walked call it what you will. If it was a terrier or lurcher that had thrown in the towel you'd be looking to retire it and so should Price!

don't think his chin is in question, he shipped about 20 flush shots before the stoppage and didn't go down.

Lots of people saying he was unfit and not properly conditioned, madness, do they honestly think he didn't train like a beast for the biggest fight of his career?

It looked to me that the occasion got to him massively, it's scary how much nervous energy/adrenaline can effect you physically and completely drain your energy in that ring, i think it's hard to understand if you haven't been in there and felt the raw fear that you do, combine that with an arena full of thousands of people supporting you, against a guy that has knocked you out just a few months ago - and you end up losing it completely like Price did last night.

Obviously there were things he could have done differently fight wise - snappier jab, planted his feet more and tried to discourage Thompson, used his weight and size advantages rather than try and dance around, but i really think he lost the fight mentally, probably before the first bell.

And a massive LOL at everyone jumping on the bandwagon saying he 'jacked', he shipped about 20 unanswered punches from a massive world ranked heavyweight, didn't go down, faced the ref when he was counted, i'd love to see how many internet tough guys would respond in a similar situation.

The fact that he (probably stupidly) asked for an immediate re-match with a guy who had ko'd him shows that he's got balls, but i guess, as usual, the best position to judge a man's fighting heart and integrity is sat safely behind a keyboard chucking out insults.

Let's remember Furey hasn't been in with anyone even near the calibre of Thompson, so his gloating is just ridiculous, he gave up belts to avoid fighting Price, if he thinks he's so shite what does that say about Furey's confidence in his own ability, behind all the smack talk and hype?

Telling Price to retire is daft, he's still nowhere near too old for the heavyweight division, he needs to rebuild, back to British level if needs be, fight a couple of decent durable European guys who would give him rounds to develop his game and iron out some flaws under the radar.

Even if he doesn't fight at true world level again, so what? There's no disgrace in being British champ, who are we to tell a man he should retire from his job, when he's shown ability and proven he's one of the best in the UK, and maybe Europe in the future?

The fact that people are gloating over him losing, when he's shown himself to be a thoroughly decent bloke - honest, down to earth, never using insults, respectful etc, shows more about the character of those slagging him off than it does about Price, he had another bad night at his work, but since when does that justify abuse?

@satan80. Since when has anyone given him abuse for losing ,its my opinion that he lacks the heart that's not abuse Thats a statement of fact! Are you saying he got nervous and that's why he lost lol ? At the end of the day you've got to ask yourself why he has been sparked the first time around , and why was he taking 20 unanswered shots from a 41 year old journeyman . Well ill tell you why because he's not good enough end of . No shame in that! like I said I think he's got the skills but lacks a true fighters heart!

sorry i'm probably confusing comments from a few different boxing forums where this is being discussed, you're right no-one insulted him on this thread.

I'm not blaming his loss on nerves, i'm saying there's a reason he was gassed after 2 rounds, and i bet it's nothing to do with lack of physical preparation or fitness.

The ability to be mentally relaxed in the ring is a massively important and under-appreciated aspect of a fight in my opinion, Price looked like he mentally fell apart last night when he was put on the back foot.

Thompson also isn't a journeyman by any means, he's a very savvy, experienced, world ranked heavyweight, and a massive step up from anyone Price fought previously, which obviously was a step too far

and you say he's 'not good enough', so what he should just retire like you say, just because he's been found wanting at word level?

Henry Cooper never won against the real word class guys, but had a great career at British and European level, guess he 'wasn't good enough' and should have quit as he lost at top level, and not bothered winning British, Commonwealth and European titles like he did?

found wanting --Thompson marked his card -- if price dusts himself down there might just be a few fights left in him fightings his job .I think its a case of seeing whats out there whats left up and coming fighters meet there match some day ..... Audrey harrisons made a living out of it and look at his record . only one person knows if he`s got the heart -guts-balls whatever you want to call it to carry on ..

@satan 80 . Yes you're right Price did look like he mentall fell apart when put on the back foot Or as we say around here " he's arsehole went when he actually fought someone to hit him back lol" alright the man he fought might've been a bit better than a journeyman but at the end of the day hes 41 ffs! And lastly its up to Price wether he retires or not I don't know if hes happy just fighting at a domestic level knocking bums over . And yes I think he should retire IMHO save him getting really hurt !
